Heartitude Heroes
Heartitude Heroes
The working state of Heartitude has many of us feeling a bit helpless as the divide in our world only gets bigger by the day. I see more and more desperation, narrowing our focus to only self-interest and protection. The sense of unity, team and service to others feels like a distant memory. I believe THIS DIVIDE WILL NOT HEAL ITSELF!
Even if we do accept that Heartitude Works better and want to move toward heart-centered leadership, it takes more than desire.
How do we know what to do?
Where have all our role models gone?
Who do we see in the public eye that we are inspired to follow?
I’m glad you asked.
Over the next few posts, I will highlight “Heartitude Works Heroes” who restored my faith that Heartitude really does Work. They prove that humility, service and a mission larger than self is the secret to success. I hope they will inspire you to direct your energy to the kind of leadership the brings us together, fuels your passion and serves your corner of the world
HeartitudeWorks Hero #1 Bob Moore
Founder of Bob’s Red Mill natural foods, Bob Moore built both a company and a brand of Heartitude leadership. He says he was born to build a company AND to do good in the world. After business success in his hometown, Bob moved with the love of his life, Charlee, to Portland, Oregon, not planning to go back into business. Out for a walk one day, he came across a flour mill that had been closed for years. (We’ll never know if it was coincidence or divine inspiration, but the rest is history!)
Bob showed his Heartitude over 30 years ago, giving employees 1/3 company ownership. In 2020 the company was valued at $100 million. It’s not for sale though, as he and Charlee gave the entire company to his team — and today it is 100% employee owned.
Bob was beloved by his employees and all who he came in contact with until he passed away at 94 in 2025. A Heartitude Works hero!
